Purple Palms offers free internet use and is your best value for money budget lodge. We are a self catering Backpackers lodge just 10 minutes from the airport.
Lay back and relax after that long haul flight in our exquisite rooms or our lush green garden.
Our place is spotlessly clean and well equipped.
Enjoy our en-suite private rooms, the cozy dorm, and the ample ground around the gardens or sit on our veranda.
Rooms have safe boxes, bedding and towels are provided.
Our private rooms consist of double en suite, twin en suite family and friend en suites and a 3 bed dorm room. Single rates are available.
Most rooms have TV's lots of packing space and have Safe boxes and heaters.
We have a laundry service on request.
The Facilities
In doors we have a TV room and DVD player, SAT TV and a fully equipped kitchen. Public phone incase you have left your mobile behind.
There is FREE internet in our recreational room and place to play board games. We have travel info there and even more on our sister site www.TravelComents.com.
Out doors chill by the thatched bar, play a game of pool, listen to music, read a book or splash around or drink a cold beer in our pool.
We have an outside fire at night and a bit of a laugh as well.
Ample secure parking for your airport car hires.
The Lodge is very clean and is always kept in a high state of good maintenance.
We are a Baz Bus stop.
Our location is perfect for the jet hopper.
Tour companies use us as a pick up and drop off point.
There is a pub across the road for those intrepid explorers who favor a local chat and a beer.
Shops are only 200 meters away and a mall1km.
We offer transport to and from places of interest for a small fee.
The area is safe for walk about.

From Pretoria & the North
Take the N1 national highway, when you see the sign for the R21 marked Johannesburg International airport, drive about 30 kilometres. There is an engen petrol garage, take the off ramp after this. At the stop street turn left, this is the R25. At the traffic ligts turn left. This is the Old pretoria road. At the first set of traffic lights turn right, this is Modderfontein road. You will go under a railway bridge. Follow this road for around 7km, at the McDonalds turn right. At the second stop street turn left onto Maraboe road, you will pass the Mickey Mouse school, and some shops, and a park. About 50m after the park on the right is a large purple wall, that is us, the entrance is on the turning to the right.

DRIVE OUT OF THE AIRPORT AND KEEP TO THE R21 PRETORIA ROUTE.
ENTER MOTORWAY AND TAKE FIRST OFF RAMP NAMED AIR FREIGHT/VOORTREKKER ROAD.
GO AROUND “S” BEND AND KEEP TO THE RIGHT IN VOORTREKKER ROAD. DO NOT TURN RIGHT BACK ONTO MOTORWAY.
TURN RIGHT INTO MONUMENT ROAD AT INTERSECTION NEXT TO KFC SHOP.
KEEP LEFT AND TURN LEFT AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS INTO C.R. SWART ROAD.
PASS UNDER THE BRIDGE AND TAKE THE FIRST RIGHT INTO KELVIN STREET.
FOLLOW THE ROAD, PASS THROUGH THE “S” BEND AND FOLLOW ON FOR APROX 3 KM UNTILL YOU REACH A McDONALDS.
GO STRAIGHT OVER THE R25 IN MOOIRIVER ROAD PAST THE McDONALDS.
PASS 1 STOP STREET AND TURM LEFT AT THE 2ND STOP SIGN INTO MARABOE STREET.
PASS MICKEY MOUSE CRESH ON RIGHT AND SHOPS FURTHER ON LEFT.
KEEP GOING FOR 200 M AND SEE US ON RIGHT SIDE CORNER OF MARABOE AND BOOMPEIPER. PURPLE WALL AND SIGN.

Very clean, staff friendly, close to local shops.
Transport - no local bus (we did not find or use one)
close to airport, facilities are good. Security is good, surrounding suburb safe, too!

Lovely hostel, high standard of cleanliness. Throughout I felt very homely. The staff were friendly & helpful. My room (elephant) was excellent. Hot shower was fantastic after travelling for six weeks.
I shall recommend to all my friends!

Accommodation was perfect. The atmosphere in the back yard in the evening was unforgettable. We all are convinced that we'll recommend this hostel to our friends and if we have a chance in the future we'll be back again.

Our stay at Purple Palms was very good. Very hospitable staff members. The rooms very immaculately clean. The environs, ie the gardens and the bar are nextto none. I have stayed at other lodges in SA, but yours is top of the list in terms of conditions. Keep it up. Will call again!

“Purple Palms Flashpackers was a great place to stay at. Its in a quiet neighbourhood and we felt very safe. It was also very nice and clean and the staff friendly. We were within a 5 min drive from a big shopping mall so could go and watch a movie and grab some dinner in the evening. It was also nice to have a small supermarket and off-licence less than a 5 min walk away to go and buy the basics."
